Love One Another
On our wedding day we made a promise
To love one another forever
This symbol reminds us of that vow
and why Jesus brought us together
The heart stands for our love
Which time has never broken
From it we find the strength to forgive
When angry words are spoken
The entwining rings show how
Our two lives are joined into one
And how dependent we are on each other
For understanding and compassion
The cross is a sign of our faith
In the Lord who blesses us each day
It is He who enriches our marriage
in every possible way
And so we will renew our vows
Ten times a day to each other
As we follow the greatest command of all:
That we love one another
"This is my commandment:  love one another as I have loved you."
A Marriage Prayer
Lord, 
Help us to remember when we first met 
and the strong love that grew between us. 
To work that love into practical things 
so nothing can divide us. 

We ask for words both kind and loving, 
and for hearts always ready to ask 
forgiveness as well as to forgive. 

Dear Lord, 
We put our marriage into Your hands.

    • Avoid arguments.  Your husband has his share from other sources.
    • Don't nag.
    • Don't drink or eat to excess.
    • If you offend your husband, always ask forgiveness before you retire.
    • Compliment your husband liberally.  It makes him a better husband.
    • Budget wisely together.  Live within your income.
    • Be sociable and go out with your husband.
    • Dress neatly and attractively for your husband. and keep your home clean and cheerful.
    • Keep your household troubles to yourself.
    • Pray together and stay together.
    • Show affection ot your wife and be truly faithful to her.
    • Do not nag or abuse her; avoid prolonged arguments.
    • Always kiss and make up before retiring.
    • Compliment your wife liberally.  It makes her a better cook and a finer companion.
    • Treat your wife occasionally to a dinner or a show or both.
    • Drink and eat moderately.
    • Plan your budget together.
    • Admit your mistakes with regret.
    • Keep your business problems and troubles where they belong.
    • Pray together and stay together.
    Prayer to the Holy Family
    Lord Jesus Christ,
    who, being made subject to Mary and Joseph,
    didst consecrate domestic life by Thine
    ineffable virtues; grant that we,
    with the assistance of both, may be
    taught by the example of
    Thy Holy Family
    and may attain to its everlasting
    fellowship.  Who livest and reignest,
    world without end.
